Of all the translations I’ve read of the classic story of “Cinderella,” this is the first I’ve heard of the Mexican version of the famous story, so this book will set it apart from the rest of the story. don’t read Tomie dePaola did a great job drawing and writing this book because the story is interesting and scary at the same time. When I read this book, I could sympathize with Adelita’s situation when her mother-in-law and her parents treated her badly, and I think many children will sympathize with her. I also love how Tomie dePaola puts different Spanish words in the book like “Hace mucho tiempo” and explains the word in English like “Hace mucho tiempo – when too long” and what happened is that the Mexican language is easier. Tomie dePaola’s commentary at the end of the book explains the translation of each Spanish word. Tomie dePaola’s illustrations in this book are even more beautiful as all the pictures look great. The highlight for me is the portrait of Adelita herself as she has long black hair and beautiful brown eyes and Tomie dePaola gives off the perfect Mexican atmosphere in her photography of Mexican houses.

“Adelita: A Mexican Cinderella Story” is one of the best “Cinderella” stories I’ve read since it talks about Mexican culture and tells old stories, so children live to see. in Mexican mythology and folklore. Enjoy this book! I recommend this book to children ages five and up because the Spanish language can be confusing for younger children to understand.
