Can You Lose Weight Fast With Intermittent Fasting – Janielle Wright used the intermittent fasting technique, where you only allow yourself to eat for a certain period of time to limit your caloric intake.
At 337 pounds, health and beauty influencer Janielle Wright feared she was dying. His body ached and he had trouble breathing at night.

“I went to bed worried I wasn’t going to wake up the next morning,” Wright told NBC News BEST.
Intermittent Fasting Can Lead To
She also feared she wouldn’t live to see her 3-year-old daughter Novah grow up. Then Wright, 28, realized something had to change.
“It’s no way to live thinking you’re going to die because you’re overweight and unhealthy,” she says.
Intermittent fasting is a time-limited eating method where you only allow yourself to eat for a set period of time.
In January, Wright began her journey to lose weight through intermittent fasting. This is a time-limited eating method where you only allow yourself to eat for a certain period of time. Wright says the method has helped her lose 65 pounds so far.
Can Fasting Help You Lose Weight?
“I just prayed and asked [God] to guide me through this journey, to be consistent and patient because I feel like patience is the key to losing weight,” Wright recalls.
Research suggests that weight loss is affected by when you eat as much as what you eat, meaning intermittent fasting can help boost your metabolism. There are several different methods of intermittent fasting, some of which are more restrictive than others. Wright recommends starting with a less restrictive regimen until your body gets used to it.
Wright began intermittent fasting with the 16:8 method, which required him to eat within 8 hours and fast for 16 hours. He says he skipped breakfast and ate only two meals a day: the first at 12:00 and the last at 8:00.
“I’ve only had lunch and dinner, and you can’t have a snack either,” explains Wright.

She says she stuck to low-carb meals and limited her calories to between 1,800 and 2,000 calories a day. He tracked his calories on the MyFitnessPal app.
Other intermittent fasting diets take a different approach. For example, the 5:2 method requires you to eat as usual five days a week, but on two non-consecutive days you only eat one meal a day. Wright says he spent five months preparing his body for the 16:8 method. She says that at this point she switched to the 20:4 method. Under this method, you fast for 20 hours and have a 4-hour eating window.
Wright says you should be careful with a more restrictive method like 20:4. Condition your body first with a less restrictive method for a longer period of time, he says. Because the window of time for eating with the 20:4 method is small, Wright says you should be careful with your meal spacing and not eat all your calories at once.
“It might take me about 30 minutes to digest some of this food,” he says, “then I’ll go eat the rest.”
Intermittent Fasting To Lose Weight
One of the things Wright likes most about intermittent fasting is that you decide what kind of food you want to eat (he prefers a low-carb diet). However, he warns against unhealthy foods.
“It’s definitely important to eat nutritious foods when you’re dieting,” she says. “I feel like if I had been doing intermittent fasting just eating pizza, burgers and fries, I wouldn’t have been as successful as I am now.”
She says it’s important to eat all the macronutrients your body needs—protein, fat, and carbohydrates—and eat a nutritionally diverse meal.
“I’ll have egg whites and spinach, and some carrots on the side … [or] maybe chicken breast with quinoa,” says Wright.
Intermittent Fasting Myths You Should Stop Believing
Fasting for a long time can become tedious. That’s why Wright indulges in three cheat meals a month. Whether it’s nachos, Chinese takeout, or a Subway sandwich, cheat meals help keep her balanced, she says. However, he warns not to overdo it.
Wright incorporates exercise into her weight loss routine, working out six days a week. Since she had a lot to lose at first, she was careful not to push herself too hard at first: a brisk 15-minute walk on the treadmill every day was enough.
“But as I got more comfortable walking on the treadmill, I increased my time and increased my speed and incline,” she says.
After seven months, Wright now walks about 45 minutes a day on the treadmill. It covers high elevations and maintains a very fast “[pace]. Then he does about 30 minutes of high-intensity interval training.

Wright says intermittent fasting is effective because it taught him self-control. Since the rule required her to stop eating at 8:00 p.m., this prevented her from having a snack before going to bed.
“It helped me not go to the kitchen at night and eat cake or ice cream very late at night,” says Wright. “And I guess that’s why it works because it teaches you discipline about what time you eat.”
When you’re doing intermittent fasting, Wright explains, it’s easy to obsess over meal planning. He says it’s important not to focus too much on time.
“Don’t be so boring over time if that makes sense,” Wright says. “For example, it’s good to have a few minutes of rest, say 10, 15 minutes of rest. All good.

The key to success with intermittent fasting is to be consistent and not be too patient, advises Wright.
“I think consistency is key,” he says. “To see [the difference], you have to be consistent.”
He says it took him many years to get to 337 pounds, so it’s important to understand that losing weight will also take a long time. At 272 pounds, Wright’s weight loss journey is far from over. But she says she can now do things she couldn’t do before, like cross her legs when she’s sitting and lying on the floor to play with her daughter.
“This weight loss is a blessing and I’m very excited about where this journey will take me,” says Wright. Her goal is to lose 100 pounds by the end of the year.

But you can still make some mistakes that can delay or even prevent your success. Below you will find the main errors.
Intermittent fasting mainly focuses on adapting the body to a new rhythm: the body can take a short conscious break from (heavy) food. Be patient. Over the years, the body has become accustomed to receiving food whenever it asks for it. This source of energy was suddenly taken from him for a time. First, you have to deal with this change, and this can delay the results at first! You may feel discouraged after a few days when the initial visual effects are not immediately visible. It often happens that the body needs at least two weeks to acclimatize! Also, when you start fasting, your body fills with water in shrinking fat cells, which can cause weight fluctuations. Thanks to the following “whoosh” effect, you will lose weight. Our infographic provides detailed information:
Regardless of the weight loss method you choose to lose body fat, the goal is to be in a calorie deficit. The same goal applies to intermittent fasting! According to many guides, it seems that the caloric content during the phase is completely irrelevant. However, too much food will always turn into fat and become visible as unwanted fat deposits. Intermittent fasting only works if you eat mindfully during the feeding phases. This means that a person should not overeat, but eat normal portions and choose healthy foods if possible. Here you will find an easy system to determine the correct amount of calories.
Those who succumb to hunger after the fasting phase and binge on unhealthy foods are ruining their successful weight loss plan. As with any diet, you need to pay attention not only to the quantity, but also to the quality of your food intake. Eating a balanced diet without too much sugar is one of the easiest ways to reach your goal weight. When implementing intermittent fasting, it is also very important to adapt your eating plan to the new rhythm. Thanks to this, you will avoid voracious appetite and ensure that your body is supplied with the necessary ingredients.
