During its season 12 finale, two cast members were seen saying goodbye. In the episode, now streaming on Paramount+. Eric Bell (played by Barrett Foa) reveals to partner Neil Jones (Renee Phyllis Smith) that his tech company is moving to Tokyo, and he wants Neil to come with him to Japan to help run it. It can be helped.

The finale saw the pair ride off into the sunset (literally) as they planned their new lives away from NCIS. However, with his departure coming as a surprise, viewers were left wondering if he was really leaving or if it would just be the last.

This time, it looks like Eric and Neal are truly gone, although the show has left the door open for them to return in the future.
The showrunner confirmed to TVLine that both actors have indeed exited the show. R. Scott Gemmill said, “Renée and Barrett have both been on the show for a long time, and they’re both very passionate people who have projects they want to do themselves — and we’re giving them time to do that. It seemed like a natural time to let them go and do something else, and give [their characters] what is a happy, hopefully, ending.
However, the showrunner left what it calls a “loop” that shows CBS a coda that shows what life is like for Nell and Eric in Tokyo. She said: “Neil says she’s going to be alone in Tokyo with Eric, and she’s giving him ‘six weeks’ before she comes back. So, we’ll see what happens… We’re in the loop. Live so we can bring people back.”
The exit comes after Neil arranges for Hattie (Linda Hunt) to take over as operations manager. That position remains unfilled as he embarks on a Japanese adventure, suggesting that new cast members are set to join the already ordered season 13.

Before it was revealed that her character was leaving, Foa said goodbye to the show on Instagram. She wrote: “How’s it been a dozen years? With my egg carton full of memories, I should probably start baking a cake. Here’s Baby Beale Barrett in the (I wore it to highlight this post) The first episode of NCIS: Los Angeles in 2009.”
Smith had also hinted that she might walk out in the pre-final interviews. “Neil has a huge decision to make… now she’s really wondering what she wants in her life,” she told TV Insider.
This isn’t the first time the show has hinted at Neil’s departure. The character was close to resigning in season 11, before a heart-to-heart with Hattie forced him to.

And is one of the most popular series on television right now. The show has been running successfully on TV for over a decade and has since introduced several recurring characters into its plot. Among the characters is Eric Bell, a geeky technical operator at OSP. The character has not been seen in the last episodes of the current season, leaving many fans wondering where she is. Below are more details about what happened.
The new episodes show that Hattie has put Neal in charge of the team for the time being in her absence. However, there is no sign of Eric, who has consistently appeared in episodes in the past. While he has been known to hold down a desk job in the past, in season 11, Hattie sends Eric on an undercover mission after being cleared for duty. This is the reason why he hasn’t appeared in the episodes yet.

Eric’s temporary absence from the team due to this mission strained the relationship between him and Neal. As the mission mandates her to have minimal contact with Neal and the team, the survivability of their relationship is called into question. This also broke Neil’s head last season when he tried to convey Hetty’s resignation. However, after currently being in charge, it appears that Neal has no current plans to leave NCIS.
However, fans can expect Eric to return to the show in the near future. Barrett Foa, who plays the role of Eric, has also worked on other popular TV shows in the past. Some of them are included.
And more. Before the spin-off started, Foa also starred in a few episodes of Main.
