The Israelites were told to watch themselves and obey all commands. And if they did, two things would happen:
The blessing of obedience is not that they live; but they would increase. They don’t just go into the soil; but they will find it.

They had heard stories of God’s deliverance from Egypt, from their parents and those who came before them. But they did not see salvation. They heard about the punishments that would come to Egypt, but they did not experience them.
They heard God’s promise about the promised land. They would have heard about the parting of the Red Sea and the destruction of the Egyptian army. But they were not alone. They only heard about stories. They only know his promises.
All this generation knew was that they tasted God’s provisions in the wilderness.

The church had time to wander in the desert because the previous generation refused to believe that it would succeed in entering the promised land.
In other words, remember how they took care of you in the wilderness, keeping you healthy for the 40 years you were wandering in the wilderness.

Remember all that God has done for you. When you do, you will be able to move forward in faith each day, knowing that He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
In a few days we will be celebrating Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is when we give thanks for the past and look forward to the future. It might be a good time to stop for a moment and think about what you are thankful for. Maybe: finances, health, healing, relationships, work, salvation or saving in a certain situation.
Right now, you may not always agree with the way things are going in your life. Remember, God loves you. He has no intention of harming you. If you know him as your Lord and Savior, you have hope and a future in Christ. Remember, God sent his only Son, Jesus; he suffered, bled, died, and rose again to receive eternal life.
As if an earthly father could reject his child. As an earthly father raises a child.
