Roy “Gramps” Morgan (born July 7, 1976) is a Jamaican singer, arranger, producer, record executive and rapper. Gramps was born in Brooklyn, New York, but partially raised in Springfield, Massachusetts. The son of acclaimed reggae artist Droy Morgan, he is a member of the Grammy Award-winning reggae group Morgan Heritage. Many of his siblings also work in the music industry.

Gramps Morgan was born into a large family of 30 children in Brooklyn, New York. He was raised in Springfield, Massachusetts by his mother Pearl Foster and father Droy Morgan. He attended Springfield Central High School in Springfield, Massachusetts, along with former NBA player Travis Best. Gramps was a star football player and offered numerous scholarships to colleges and universities across the country. His passion for music, formed at such a young age, won the battle between sports and the future of music. However, Gramps has had to coexist and continues to do so throughout his band and solo career.

Following in his father’s footsteps, he became a member of the Morgan Heritage organization founded in 1994 along with his four brothers. Other members of the group are Peter “Peetah” Morgan, Una Morgan, Nakhamiyah “Lukes” Morgan and Memmalatel “Mr. Mojo” Morgan. The band features Gramps Morgan on keyboards and lead singer Pete Morgan also sings. They have several successful reggae albums over two decades. The group has released 12 albums to date, including the 2016 Grammy Award-winning Best Reggae Album Strictly Roots. Additionally, Morgan Heritage received 2 Grammy nominations for their 2017 Avrakedabra album and was featured on Shaggy and Sting’s 44/876.
Gramps Morgan also flourished as a successful solo artist and formed his own label, Dada Son tertainmt. Gramps has toured and performed with the likes of India.Arie, Buju Banton, John Legd, Tarrus Riley and Kymani Marley. In 2009, Gramps released the award-winning 2 Sides of My Heart, Vol. 1 released his debut solo album. He also featured on India.Arie’s US charting song Therapy. His second solo album, Reggae Music Lives, was released in 2012. Gramps appeared again on India.Arie’s album Songversation. Gramps continues to expand his vocal diversity with the following tracks, various gres recordings from around the world.
In 2020, Gramps Morgan released several solo singles, including “Runaway Bay” and “People Like You”. The latter was nominated for three International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA) 2021 for Best Song, Best Crossover Song and Best Gospel and won Best Gospel Song. Gramps Morgan was also nominated for Best Male Vocalist.
In August 2021, Gramps Morgan released his third solo album, Positive Vibration, produced by Canadian Juno Award-winning singer-songwriter Johnny Reid. The album features guest appearances from India.Arie, Shaggy, Lybran, Droy Morgan and Jemere Morgan.

Gramps Morgan currently lives in Nashville, Tennessee, where he is active in the community and hosts his own radio show on Acme Radio. He is married to Dr. Annabelle Manalo, a cell and developmental biologist. Dr. Annabelle or Dr. Gramps’ wife, also known as Annabelle Morgan, received her doctorate from Vanderbilt University. Gramps has 11 children, the oldest being Jemere Morgan, the top of the 3rd generation of the Morgan family.
