How Should We Pray According To The Bible – Have you ever sat down to pray and can’t seem to find the words? Do you feel like your prayers are few and far between? I believe that the most effective prayers come from the word of God. Indeed, the Holy Spirit always shows us what we should pray for through the word.
I started praying by accident, to be honest. I read a passage in scripture and I felt very encouraged or guilty, and I knew that I didn’t just want to read it and get on with my life, I wanted it to be true for me. So, I began to pray the words that I read in the scriptures and God worked with my prayer, changing my life.

How To Love Your Wife According To The Bible: 13 Steps
Praying scripture is simply taking a passage, verse or thought from scripture and using it to make specific prayers for your life or community. Instead of praying from your heart and mind, pray what is already written in the word.
Praying the scriptures is helpful for a few reasons. First, it prevents us from praying in the wrong way as it comes directly from the word of God (James 4:3). Now, it is certain that God hears and answers our prayers (1 John 5:14-15). It also helps us to live according to the Bible. The world we live in is against the will of God and it is easy to believe that the ways of the world are right. When we stay in God’s word by praying every day, our heart becomes in harmony with God’s heart. Instead of being led astray by the philosophy of the world, we begin to live our lives as God would have us (Romans 12:2).
Four Steps to Worshiping the Scriptures 1. Make sure you understand the context of the scripture that comes to you.
This is the most important step. If we do not understand the context of what we read, we can end up praying something that does not correspond to what the Bible says and is related to our needs. Before choosing a part of the Scriptures to pray, first ask what it is, what it means, and what the Holy Spirit wants you to remove. If you need more help doing this, read my article covering questions to ask yourself when studying the Bible.
How Should We Treat Those Who Are Our Enemies, According To Jesus?
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 ESV
The apostle Paul wrote to the Philippians while in prison. Rather, the letter speaks of joy, perseverance, faith and gratitude. Paul teaches us that our circumstances should not dictate how we view life. Trials are inevitable, but we can keep the joy of the Lord when trials come.
Here in these verses, Paul tells the Philippians that they should not be anxious about anything. But they must submit everything to God in prayer and supplication and thanksgiving. We are assured that God’s peace will guard our hearts and minds when we choose to cast our cares and concerns into prayer.
I believe that Paul encouraged these believers in this way because he knew that sometimes they were worried. We all do. But, there is a solution to the concern. Jesus is the answer. And when we give everything to him in prayer, he also gives us peace.
God Answers Prayers
If you understand what this passage means, it’s time to sit down with the Holy Spirit and ask Him what He wants you to get rid of. What truth in these words do you want to keep? Do you suffer from anxiety? Are you worried about something? Do you feel that you do not have peace? Let God speak to you and show you the things in your heart that need to be fixed.
At all. I’m good at sharing my concerns with him, but am I really giving him my all? Am I holding on to something? If I want to hear the word of God and find his peace, I must give everything to him without giving up.
So, let the Holy Spirit speak to you through the verse. You can only ask, Lord, what do you want me to pray for? The answer is often expressed in places where you feel guilty, motivated, passionate, or motivated to take action.
Keep in mind what the Holy Spirit has done for you. In my experience, I can think of areas in my life where I have not submitted to God. I can also think about what it means to truly trust God and how I can rest in His will.
What Does The Bible Say About The Power Of Prayer?
After you’ve taken the time to sit down with the paragraph, it’s time to edit it. Think about what it would mean if these words were true in your life. How would your life be different? Believe that since they are the inspired words of God, they can be true in your life.
Finally, once you’ve done the walk yourself, write it down in a journal or say it out loud. Use your name or the names of the people in your life and pray the word of God over them.
Lord, thank you that I don’t have to worry about anything. Thank you that I can lay all burdens and care at your feet. Instead of trying to solve my problems on my own, I’m thankful that I can give them to you. Thank you Lord that when I give you my worries and concerns, you give me your peace. Even when things are not going well, I can be at peace inside. And Lord, help me to do this. Help me to put these troubles at your feet. Help me to give even when I want to wait for them. Help me to trust you to do only what you can do instead of what I cannot do. Thank you Lord. Amen.
