Movie Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na – Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na was for me the highlight of Channel 4’s last big Bollywood season, but it had some tough competition.
Last September’s New Voices film series was the best Hindi film series the channel has aired in the four years I’ve been watching it, and it introduced me to a variety of entertaining and thought-provoking films.
Movie Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na
It included six films from new directors without one of them (so no Mahal, Hydrabad Blues 2 or Mangel Panday from previous years). But it was Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na (translation: you might know, you might not) that stole the show for me.
Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na 2008 Wallpapers
It is basically a fun post-teen drama and an Aamir Khan production with all the production values that follow from the producer/star of Laagan and Rang De Basanti.
But unlike either of these two (great) films, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na eschews political or historical points to focus on a coming-of-age story.
Set in and around a university in Mumbai, the 2008 film is the story of a boy (Imran Khan’s Jai) meets a girl (Aditi played by Genelia) – although it is a boy meets girl, the girl loses her boyfriend and they end up meeting again at . airport. diversity.
In his accompanying introduction, director Abbas Tyrewalla says he had to write this memoir from his own college days when he did it before too much time passed to do it justice.
Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na
He oversees a film with a very effective ‘story told in hindsight’ along with a good story.
The characterization, though focused on Jai and Aditya, gives the supporting cast enough depth to feel like an ensemble piece that has two leads.
Of course, it follows some common standards of ambition for teen films. Of course some friends have cars, but there is much more to the story than such a comparison would suggest.
There were times when the film failed to score. Aditi jokingly writes “I’m gay” on Jai’s arm, and Jai makes fun of two drunk guys who trick a girl into lying to them about having AIDS, which actually made me wish it was some other STD used in comedy.
Looking Back At Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na
Despite these incidents, the film was overall very entertaining. It starts with a muted rendition of the title track which led me to believe that the songs weren’t very memorable – I’ve since heard them on the radio and they came straight to mind. Perhaps unsurprisingly, I later discovered that the film has another soundtrack by AR Rahman, one of Bollywood’s most successful composers. (A sample of the concert can be found on the film’s official website.)
Hindi movies are usually at least two and a half hours long, and with a young family, I’m not exactly time-poor. So perhaps the best compliment I can give a Bollywood film is wanting to watch a second time. With Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, I am already looking forward to watching it for the third time in the not too distant future.

Kahin Toh Hogi Woh
Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na is a popular Hindi romantic comedy film which also marked the debut of Aamir Khan’s cousin and lead actor Imran Khan. The film also starred Genelia D’Souza. It is the story of 6 friends, two of whom their parents thought were lovers. But later they also understand that they are not only each other’s best friends, but they love each other. This movie has the funniest dialogues which are given below.
1-“Ek asni ke baad jab log milte hai toh … ha mulakat mein ek choti si kahani hoti hai”
Amit: Ek to tu acha dikhta nahi, Do tu garib hai, Teen to aise gayega to kaun si ladki tere ko pyaar karegi, jay.
9-“Sir doctor ke paas gaya tha, meri report aah gayi hai, aur kitne logo ko maut ki surahi se sharaab pilaugi tum”.

A romantic comedy starring Imran Khan and Genelia D’Souza. Jai is relaxed but his best friend Aditi suffers from a wild temper. But the pair are in love with each other, although they are the only ones who do not recognize their attraction.
College friends Genelia D’Souza and Imran Khan are crazy about each other – but they’re the only ones who don’t get it – in this bouncy Bollywood romp with a well-worn theme. Writer/director Abbas Tyrewala elevates a predictable journey to consciousness with quirky humor and raunchy jokes, giving his straight-laced romance plenty of youthful appeal. The pop-style song and dance numbers reflect the overall playful mood, even if they often feel like filler, while D’Souza and Khan’s natural chemistry provides the sweetener for some of the film’s funnier moments. Where Tyrewala falters, however, is structuring the main narrative as a life lesson told to other “just good friends,” a jarring device that slows the pace and leads to a terribly contrived finale.

Aditi Mahant gave a breakthrough performance for Genelia in this film. Her role was widely admired for its sweetness and freshness, as well as a new acting style. Aditi was an aggressive and impulsive girl for whom Jai (Imran Khan) was everything. Aditi was strong, didn’t take crap from people and wasn’t afraid to throw punches when someone picked on her. Genelia’s performance earned everyone’s respect and made everyone fall in love with her brilliant acting. It was the main highlight and the main reason for watching the movie again and again.
This film marked Imran’s acting debut and no one could have thought that the actor would make an impact with his first film. Imran as Jai, the most non-violent Rajput ever, was a hit with the audience. He was miles away from the ‘macho’ stereotype that Bollywood heroes usually espouse. His cute and innocent looks made girls fall for him. Imran was the perfect choice made by the makers for Jai’s character. From being a famous son to a loving boyfriend, Jai was everything any girl would ask for.
Nirav Mehta as Jiggy Patel, Alishka Varde as Bombs, Karan Makhija as Rotlu and Sugandha Garg as Shaleen Varma played the role of perfect friends Jai and Aditi. Jiggy’s Gujarati accent, Bomb’s cuteness, Shaleen’s message and caring and Rotla’s emotional character made the audience fall in love with them. Apart from these wonderful friends, we had the wonderful parents Anuradha Patel as Pumpkin (Aditi’s mother), Jayant Kripalani as Peachy (Aditi’s).
