He signed Sam Phillips to Sun Records in 1956, but had his biggest success with Monument Records. From 1960 to 1966, 22 of Orbison’s songs made the Billboard Top 40. Orbison enjoyed a resurgence in popularity in the 1980s after several successful versions of his songs. In 1988, he founded the group Traveling Wilburys (rock group) with George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne. Orbison died of a heart attack in December 1988 at the age of 52. A month later, his single “You Got It” (1989) was released as a single and became the first US top 10 hit in nearly 25 years.
