I was drawn into this book from page one and captivated by Purcell’s honest writing and Jesse’s relentless search for truth. Many things are happening in the world today that are difficult to understand. It was great to open up that world to your young readers.
Although it tackles some serious topics, it doesn’t throw anything in your face. There are no classes; no “After School Special” sense. There is no sweet sick life lesson. That’s just life. That’s the way things are and you either learn from it and adjust your life accordingly, or you don’t. In life we have choices about how we deal with what is presented to us and how we interact with the people around us. Everyone has their secrets and struggles – no one is immune. It is how you choose to live that defines you.
